# When Call Connects

**When Call Connects** fires when the call is *answered* - a person (or the AI) is on the line. On the canvas: **Runs when: When a call is connected**, transition **Work Flow Triggered**. No required settings.

Use it when the work is pointless on a ring that will miss: start a timer, notify a supervisor that someone picked up, write "in progress" to a ticket.

## Why this trigger

[On Call Start](https://docs.voicelogica.ai/workflows/on-call-start/) runs on inbound ring, including calls that never answer. Connect does not. If the greeting must already know the caller, that lookup still belongs on Start - Connect is too late for the first sentence.

**AI Response to Caller** and **Transfer Call** are allowed here.

## First setup

1. **+ Add Trigger - When Call Connects**.
2. From **Work Flow Triggered**, add the node that should run only after answer (ticket update, API, **Send Text Message**).
3. **Save & go live**, attach on the agent, place a call, pick up. Open **Calls**.
4. Hang up without answering once - this graph should *not* have run. That is the proof you picked Connect instead of Start.

## Troubleshooting

**Start and Connect both ran**

Expected on an answered inbound call. Put pre-answer work on Start only. Put "they are live" work on Connect only.

## Next Steps

[On Call Start](https://docs.voicelogica.ai/workflows/on-call-start/) - before pickup.
[On Call End](https://docs.voicelogica.ai/workflows/on-call-end/) - after hang-up.
[Missed Call](https://docs.voicelogica.ai/workflows/missed-call/) - they never answered.
