How Voice Logica connects to your Panasonic

Section titled “How Voice Logica connects to your Panasonic”

Every Panasonic that can add a SIP trunk registers that trunk to Voice Logica (way 1), as it would to a phone provider. Voice Logica creates the trunk and gives you a server, a username and a password. Your existing ISDN or analog lines stay on the PBX.

  • Calls the PBX sends to the Voice Logica trunk (a DDI/MSN, an incoming-call destination, after-hours, a trunk access code) are answered by the AI agent.
  • The agent transfers callers back over the same trunk, with the extension number. The PBX rings the extension through its DDI/DID Table.

Telephony - Trunks - Connect your PBX, pick your Panasonic series and the agent. Keep the dialog open: it shows the server, port, username and password and changes to Connected when the PBX registers. Send the values and this page to your Panasonic maintainer.

Before you start: IP trunk activation keys from the Panasonic Key Management System (check under 1. Configuration → 1. Slot → Activation Keys) and, on NS, a DSP card (KX-NS5110 / 5111 / 5112). NS300 takes up to 16 SIP trunks.

  1. Web Maintenance Console → 1. Configuration → 1. Slot → virtual shelf. Put the V-SIPGW16 card out of service (OUS) and open Port Property.
  2. Main: Channel Attribute = Basic Channel, Provider Name Voice Logica, SIP Server Location – Name = the server, SIP Server Port Number = 5060, SIP Service Domain = the server.
  3. Account: User Name and Authentication ID = the username (without @domain), Authentication Password = the password.
  4. Register: Register Ability = Enable, Registrar Server – Name = the server, Register Interval = 3600, Un-Register Ability = Enable.
  5. Voice/FAX: IP Codec Priority 1st G.711A, 2nd G.711Mu. T.38: Reject T.38 Request from Network = Enable.
  6. Calling Party: From Header – User Part = PBX-CLIP.
  7. For more simultaneous calls, set the next ports’ Channel Attribute = Additional channel for channel 1.
  8. Put the card back in service (INS).
  9. Shelf Property: NAT – Keep Alive Packet Sending Ability = Enable, Keep Alive Packet Type = Blank UDP, so the office router keeps the connection open.

Before you start: a DSP card (KX-TDE0110 DSP16 or KX-TDE0111 DSP64; DSP16 includes 4 IP trunk licences, DSP64 includes 16), more IP trunk activation keys if needed (for example KX-NCS4104, 4 channels), PBX software 5.0002 or later and Maintenance Console 7.2.1.0 or later.

  1. Maintenance Console → 1. Configuration → 1. Slot → virtual shelf. Add a V-SIPGW16 card and put it out of service (OUS).
  2. Card Property → Common: DNS server = Manual, enter DNS addresses so the server name resolves.
  3. Port Property: same Main, Account, Register and Voice/FAX values as for KX-NS above.
  4. Calling Party: From Header – User Part = PBX-CLIP. Put the card in service (INS).

If a V-SIPEXT32 (SIP extensions) card uses port 5060, move the extension port first (Site Property → Port Number).

No licence needed: HTS32 takes up to 6 SIP trunks (G.711), HTS824 up to 8 outside lines in total.

  1. Web-MC → PBX Configuration → 3. Trunk → 1. Port: for the lines Voice Logica uses, Attribution = SIP Carrier-1, Trunk Group = 1.
  2. 3. Trunk → 7. SIP Trunk Property → SIP Carrier-1: Provider Name Voice Logica, SIP Server Name = the server, SIP Server Port Number = 5060, User name and Authentication ID = the username, Authentication Password = the password, Register Ability = Enable.
  3. Voice: IP Codec Priority 1st G.711A only, DTMF = Outband (RFC2833), Payload Type (DTMF) = 101, Packet Sampling Time = 20 ms.
  4. Common: Register Sending Interval = 3600, Register Resending Interval = 300.
  5. Apply → Apply Now → Save & Logout.

If SIP Carrier-1 is your phone provider, use SIP Carrier-2 for Voice Logica.

These take the KX-TDA3450 SIP-GW card, up to 8 SIP channels. Your maintainer checks that the card is fitted (or adds it) and that the PBX software supports it. The ISDN or analog lines stay as they are.

On the SIP card, enter the same values as above: provider Voice Logica, SIP server = the server, port 5060, user name and authentication ID = the username, password, registration enabled, codec G.711A first, DTMF out of band (RFC 2833). Card programming is in PC Programming → 1. Configuration → 1. Slot → Card Property / Port Property of the SIP-GW card.

During a Warm transfer a call uses two of the card’s channels until the person answers.

These have no SIP trunk card: their VoIP cards (KX-TDA0484, KX-TDA0490) speak H.323 only. Three options:

  1. An ISDN BRI gateway on a free BRI port of the PBX, registered to Voice Logica. The PBX sees one more ISDN line. See Analog and ISDN systems.
  2. Upgrade the processor to KX-TDE0101 (TDA100/200) or KX-TDE6101 (TDA600). The system then works as a KX-TDE: follow KX-TDE.
  3. Forward the main number to a Voice Logica number and transfer to direct numbers. See Forward your number.

No SIP. Use an FXO gateway on an analog extension port, an FXS gateway on a CO port, or forward the number: see Analog and ISDN systems.

Point the calls the agent answers at the trunk group that holds the Voice Logica port:

  • A number: 10. CO & Incoming Call → 3. DDI/DID Table (HTS: 3. Trunk → 3. DDI), or the DIL destination of a line.
  • After hours or overflow: the night-mode or overflow destination of the incoming group.
  • A code staff dial: an ARS or trunk-group access code for that trunk group.

4. Let the agent transfer back to extensions

Section titled “4. Let the agent transfer back to extensions”

The agent sends the extension number back over the trunk. Make sure the DDI/DID Table of the Voice Logica trunk maps those numbers to the extensions (for example 201 → extension 201). Then, in Voice Logica, add each extension as a transfer destination: an External destination with the extension number, or a User with that extension. Use Warm transfer: if nobody answers, the agent comes back and takes a message. Turn off voicemail-on-no-answer for these extensions, or the PBX answers instead of the person.

  • The dialog says Connected. The trunk’s SIP logs in Voice Logica show each REGISTER and our reply.
  • Call the number or the code: the call appears in Calls.
  • Ask the agent for a colleague: the extension rings.
  • Port: NS, TDE and NCP use local SIP client port 35060 by default. That is fine: only the server port (5060) must match.
  • Behind NAT: on NS / TDE / NCP set NAT – Traversal = Fixed IP Addr. with your public IP (Shelf Property). Turn off SIP ALG on the office router.
  • Restart after changes: after changing ports, save and restart the PBX. If the trunk stays waiting, put the card OUS then INS.
  • TCP: changing SIP to TCP on NS deletes existing SIPGW cards. Stay on UDP.
We have a KX-TDA15 on ISDN. Do we need a converter?

No ISDN converter is needed if the PBX takes the KX-TDA3450 SIP card: the ISDN lines stay on the PBX and the card registers to Voice Logica. Without the card, use an ISDN gateway or forward the main number.

Do our numbers change?

No. The lines stay on the Panasonic; the Voice Logica trunk only carries the calls the PBX sends to the agent and the transfers back.
