How Voice Logica connects
Section titled “How Voice Logica connects”Any phone system that can register a SIP trunk to a provider connects the same way (way 1): create the connection with Telephony - Trunks - Connect your PBX (pick Other SIP PBX), and enter on the PBX:
| On the PBX | Value |
|---|---|
| Server / registrar / proxy / domain | the server from the dialog |
| Port, transport | 5060, UDP |
| Username and authentication ID | the username |
| Password | the password |
| Registration | on |
| Codecs | G.711 A-law, then u-law |
| DTMF | RFC 2833 / RFC 4733 |
Then three things on the PBX, whatever the make:
- Calls to the agent: an outbound route, short code, IVR option or overflow that uses the Voice Logica trunk.
- Transfers back: calls arriving on the trunk reach extensions by number (DID/DDI routing).
- In Voice Logica: add the extensions as transfer destinations (External with the extension number, or a User with that extension) and use Warm transfer.
A system that cannot register a trunk but takes SIP extensions connects through an edge device. A system with no SIP: Analog and ISDN systems.
Where the trunk lives, per make
Section titled “Where the trunk lives, per make”MiVoice Office 250: System → Device and Feature Codes → SIP Peer → SIP Trunk Groups → right-click Create SIP Trunk Group. In its configuration: Registration → Enable Registration = Yes, Authentication username and password, address and port, Operating State = In-Service. System → IP-Related Information → Call Configurations: DTMF Encoding RFC2833, G.711 A-law, 20 ms. Back to extensions: Call Routing Tables (DID patterns) as the trunk group’s Ring-In Type. Needs SIP trunk licences.
MiVoice Office 400 (Mitel / Aastra 400): WebAdmin Configuration Assistant → Incoming call routing → Add under Network interfaces → SIP provider (registrar = the server, port 5060), then a SIP account: SIP ID and User name = the username, Password, Registration required ticked. Back to extensions: the DDI plan. Needs one SIP Access Channels licence per call.
MiVoice Business: SIP Peer Profile (UDP, the server, port 5060) with SIP Authentication, a SIP trunk group, ARS to send calls to it and DID routing back.
OfficeServ 7030 / 7100 / 7200 / 7400 (discontinued, support ended 2021). Needs SIP trunk and MGI channel licences.
- MMC 603 / DM 4.1.2: create the SIP trunk group.
- MMC 837 / DM 5.2.13 SIP Carrier Options: Registrar Address and Outbound Proxy = the server, Username and Auth Username = the username, Auth Password = the password, Alive Notify = OPTION (30 s).
- Back to extensions: MMC 714 / DM 3.2.3 DDI table.
CUBE, CME, UC500 register on the IOS gateway:
sip-ua credentials username <username> password 0 <password> realm <server> authentication username <username> password 0 <password> registrar dns:<server> expires 3600Check with show sip-ua register status. Send calls with a dial-peer pointing at the server; dial-peers for the extension numbers take the transfers back. CUCM reaches Voice Logica through a CUBE in front.
WMS → Trunks → SIP → +: Auth Login and From user = the username, Password, From domain and Address or Host Name = the server, Enable registration on. Advanced: G.711 A-law, 20 ms. Dialplan = the procedure that handles incoming calls (usually main), so transfers back reach extensions.
Zycoo CooVox: Basic → Trunks → New VoIP Trunk, leave Without Authentication unticked, username and password. Calls to the agent: Basic → Outbound Routes. Transfers back: Inbound Control → Inbound Routes.
Xorcom CompletePBX: PBX → External → Trunks (SIP, username, host = the server, port 5060, secret, register string). Transfers back: PBX → External → Inbound Routes.
Teams does not register trunks. It needs Direct Routing through a Microsoft-certified SBC and Teams Phone licences. Teams Direct Routing to Voice Logica is coming; until then, forward the number or keep a PBX in front of Teams.
